Trip to Rush Library
On Monday 17 of October we went to the Rush Library to learn about the Titanic. An author taught us about it. Her name was Nicola Pearse. She wrote a book called ‘The Spirit of the Titanic’. She taught us about the crew and passengers. She showed us pictures of the Titanic and crew and the people who made the ship. There were pictures of the captains of the Titanic and Carpathia. It was really fun.

Halloween night
All my friends are dressed up right
Loom of the moon, shimmering down
Lots of clowns, with their disturbing frowns
Out in the night, trick or treating
Werewolf’s howling, witches creaking
Eating sweets all night long
Enjoying singing Halloween songs
Not so scared in the night

Not so bothered by the fright
In the day so excited
Getting ready to be frightend
Howling of the spooky castle “BOO”
The night goes on, hope the monsters get “YOU”

 Horrid Halloween
 Amazing costumes
Lots of frights
Listen to the howls
Obviously scary
Wickedly cool
Encountering hazards
Eating sweets
Nice and horrid

Night time
Inky rain
Great fun
House full of fireworks
Time of your life

 Halloween   night
 ghost ran past me
Loud noises around me
Little kids knocking on doors
October the night of fun
Witches everywhere
Everyone laughing
Everyone having fun
Neighbours having fun

Now it’s nearly over
I see a witch
Go and say
Happy Halloween
Then I had to go home.

Halloween Night
Always is so fun
Lots of sweets
Lots of scary people
October is the night of spook
Worlds collide HELL and Earth
Everyone is out
Eating sweets all night long
None of us are scared
Night is when we all come out
I got lots of sweets
Good costumes everywhere
Happy Halloween

Halloween night can give you a fright
After school I saw a witch take flight
Licking lots of lollypops
Looking at fireworks all night long
October is the month of Halloween
Windows broken monsters break in
Everyone is looking scary
Everyone is eating sweets
Night is scary on Halloween night.

Halloween night
All are on the street at night
Licking sweets
Lighting up fireworks
October the night of fun
We all have sweets
Everyone is dressed up
Everyone is eating sweets
Night and day

Nobody is hurt
It’s nice to share
Giving people scare
Having lots of sweets
Tonight everyone’s out on Halloween night.

Harvesting and Tasting

On Monday we went out to the school garden to look at all the vegetables the children had grown over the past year. Mary showed us all the vegetables and we discussed the different parts of the plants that we eat.  With carrots we eat the root of the plant, cabbage we eat the leaves of the plant and broccoli we eat the flowers of the plant.

We then got the chance to taste the vegetables. They were cooked in various ways. We tasted carrot and coriander soup, turnip puree,stir-fired white cabbage and rosemary roasted potatoes. All the recipes are on the cookery blog for us to try at home!

Tour Report

Kayla took a notebook with her on the school tour. She wrote down the things we did. Here is her report.

Tour Report
We’re on the bus. We’re singing. We’re exited. We’re going over lots of hills. We’re nearly there. We’re here. There’s a wishing well. It’s fun. We’re having lunch. We’re about to go look at stuff. We’re starting. We’re on a bug hunt. Rachel caught a cricket. James caught a fly. We’re at an apple tree. There’s a lot of stuff. There has been a crime scene. We heard a curlew. There are badgers. There are otters here. We are going on a crime scene trail. This is fun. We’re looking at sheep skulls. We’ve done a scavenger hunt. On the bus again going back it was fun.

Sun Flowers by Van Gogh

We looked at Van Gogh's painting 'Sunflowers'. We used it as inspiration to paint our own sunflower pictures.
